Matteo Tonon began working in the family furniture business under his paternal great-grandfather while still a student, thus gaining a solid understanding of the manufacturing world. He has been vice chairman and managing director at Tonon & C. SpA, since 2006.

At the same time, he has taken an active interest in trade associations: from 2006 to 2008 as chairman of the Promosedia SpA Consortium, from 2007 to 2009 as board member of the Nuovi Mercati Consortium and as national Flay (Federlegno Arredo Young) consultant, from 2005 to 2008 as chairman of the young businessmen group of Confindustria Udine, to which he was elected at the young age of 34 in 2013, until 2017, and as member of the national board of Confindustria since 2013. Today he also holds the position of commissioner on call for the Prefecture of Trieste.
